The Willows is a family owned business which is run by myself and my daughter Sam. The nursery opened in April 1995 with one child and two staff – myself and Cathryn (Officer In Charge), and we have gone from strength to strength ever since.
We extended the nursery in 1997 opening up a purpose built baby area with its own outdoor play area. A fully equipped pre-school area also opened, offering a unique environment for each of the age groups and more flexibility and scope for all areas.
In 2002 we also opened an after school area offering a quiet and homely atmosphere. It is nice to keep in touch with children who have moved on to school, and watch them grow up.
Managing a busy nursery takes my time away from the day to day child care. However Sam and I continually monitor all the rooms during the day on CCTV, so I can keep in touch with what is going on and do not hesitate to offer my support or guidance to the staff and children.
Part of my daily routine is looking after our many animals. I take on many roles, from gardening to D.I.Y. “I’LL HAVE A GO!” I enjoy creating new ideas and developing the nursery facilities to provide a rich and stimulating environment for the children.
I have a busy life within the nursery, but I wouldn’t swap it. I love the children and all their stories, watching them play, learn and experiencing different things only our nursery can offer.
The nursery provides all that is needed for a happy, secure and stimulating environment. The children are stimulated through the earliest stages of development right up to school age, using a curriculum full of interesting and varied activities.
